Environment Artist needs an environment, right?
As I began designing the trees and foliage to populate an outdoor, southern environment, I realized exactly what I had in mind.
This scene was done as a stand alone art test to demonstrate my realistic foliage abilities.
The live oak trees were modeled and UVed in Zbrush and painted in Substance Painter.
For modularity's sake, none of the moss is actually baked into the texture. All of the moss is generated through Unreal Blueprints. I decided this to be the best course of action to allow to reuse the tree assets as much as possible. For this same reason, the trees all have incredibly different silhouettes, even when rotating the same tree.
